A musician of remarkable versatility, technical prowess, and innate musicality, Josh embarked on his musical odyssey in rural Pennsylvania as a violist at the age of 9, albeit slightly later than many prodigious talents. However, by the age of 13, he was already gracing chamber groups, school orchestras, and regional symphonies with his mastery across an array of instruments including violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, and saxophone. This early exposure to diverse instruments kindled a profound appreciation for the art of what is known as "doubling", and the near-simultaneous start to playing so many instruments so young has given him a nearly unique position among the doublers of the world, in terms of technical and musical prowess and experience.

After honing his craft at The Juilliard School and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Josh took a break from music for 2 years and delved into various interests, including obtaining certification in pâtisserie and baking from San Francisco's Le Cordon Bleu. Yet, his true calling resonated within the orchestra pits of the theater world, where his multi-instrumental talents found their fullest expression. While maintaining engagements with symphony orchestras and chamber groups, Josh's primary focus shifted to the theater, enriching more than 30 Broadway, Off-Broadway, and touring productions over a 20-year span. Notably, for the 2 years prior to the Covid 19 pandemic, he was the solo flute chair in the critically acclaimed Yiddish revival of "Fiddler On The Roof," directed by Academy Award-winning Joel Grey, and can also be heard on the Time Warner cast album.

In addition to his theatrical endeavors, Josh has left his imprint in recording studios, lending his musical expertise to more than 3 dozen film, television, commercial, and video game soundtracks, working with such luminaries as Hildur Guðnadóttir, the London Contemporary Orchestra, and Hans Zimmer/Bleeding Fingers Music.

Josh's passion for musical instruments extended beyond performance to a deep exploration of woodwind equipment. His widely popular blog, "So Many Instruments, So Little Time," serves as an invaluable resource for woodwind enthusiasts, offering insights beyond conventional knowledge. His articles, including detailed examinations of international oboe makers, have garnered widespread acclaim and publication.

This passion for musical instruments has spilled over into a love of photographing them, which has meshed with the relationships he has built throughout the music industry over the years and his instantly recognisable presence on social media to lead to becoming a social media manager and content creator for several companies in the musical instrument business; to this day, Josh is the social media executive for one of the largest flute dealers in Europe, based in the UK.

Beyond his instrumental prowess, Josh is emerging as a thought leader and equipment expert in the musical instrument industry. His ability to match players with their perfect instruments has earned him acclaim and made him a sought-after resource and consultant. He has assisted countless musicians in finding their dream instruments, perpetuating his mission to facilitate musical excellence.

Currently, Josh is channeling his wealth of knowledge and experience into a forthcoming book, poised to become an indispensable resource for performers, parents, and educators alike.
